Why
By Karan T.

Why do we feel hate, when we know it doesn’t make anyone happier?
Why do we feel anger, when we know we make mistakes too?
Why do we need war, to have peace, when war really doesn’t help?
Why don’t we all work together in harmony, when we only need to try?
Why don’t we apologize, when we know we were wrong?
Why don’t we forgive, otherwise it will only keep bad feelings?
Why do we complain, when it only makes it worse?
Why do we resist, when we know, learning only makes us smarter?
Why do we fight, because there’s really no reason?
Why don’t we come together, to help people in need, to bring world peace, to teach the ignorant, to feed the poor, to make the world a better place to live?
Why?

How High?
By Marc P.

How high can you go?
When they are pulling you down?
How high can you soar?
On your forced descent?
How high can you sing?
When they shove oppression down your throat?
How high can you jump?
When they put weights on you?
How high can you throw?
When they steal the ball and keep it?
How high can you stand?
When they push you to the ground?
Can you, I wonder
Go
Soar
Sing
Jump
Throw
Stand
Against those who oppress us?
Can we be men?
Or must we be mice?
